Nestled in a quiet space within Kingston’s Hotel Dieu Hospital, the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph (RHSJ) Region Archives keeps records from the earliest work of the Catholic nuns that were called from Montreal to establish a Catholic hospital at the request of Father Remi Gaulin, Kingston’s second Catholic bishop (1845). The Archives have held in trust, some of the earliest records of the nuns, and ensure that their service to Kingston is kept safe and available for today and tomorrow for the passionate historian.
While the space is currently undergoing work, research and access requests are available by appointment only st-archives@rhsj.org (see contact information below).
